CNC Technical Support Specialist
Job Description
This onsite CNC Applications Support Specialist role in San Diego offers the opportunity to apply seasoned machining expertise to guide teams through real world setup and fixturing challenges. You will work directly with machinists to optimize workholding and zero point solutions, troubleshoot issues, and relay feedback to engineering. The position offers an hourly rate of $38 to $48 and requires a high school diploma or equivalent along with at least three years of hands-on CNC experience.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with machinists to identify and resolve setup and fixturing challenges
- Provide expert guidance on workholding setups, zero-point solutions, and related accessories
- Diagnose and troubleshoot clamping, alignment, repeatability, and overall setup efficiency
- Support applications across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining environments
- Escalate complex technical issues to engineering with precise, actionable details
- Engage with customers by phone and email to resolve practical machining problems
- Assist with order support including RMAs, replacements, and coordination as needed
- Record technical cases and solutions in CRM/ERP systems (Epicor, Salesforce preferred)
- Provide product guidance and machining insights to customers
- Capture and relay customer and shop-floor feedback to inform product and process improvements
Requirements
- Minimum three years of hands-on CNC machining experience in roles such as operator, setup machinist, applications, or related
- Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis machining centers
- Solid understanding of setups, fixturing, and solving machining challenges
