Job Description

Direct-hire Generator Technical Support Manager overseeing generator service operations across North and South America in a hybrid role based in Orlando, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of about 10 technical professionals, including performance management and career development
  • Provide technical oversight and support for generator systems across the U.S., Canada, and South America
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in generator electrical systems with supporting mechanical knowledge
  • Support field operations, including on-site troubleshooting and outage execution as needed
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on project planning, cost development, and service delivery
  • Oversee technical support processes and ensure strong back-office coordination
  • Review and approve scope of work and cost estimates for generator repairs and services
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical operations, service delivery, and team performance
  • Support forecasting efforts, vendor coordination, and resource planning
  • Maintain and support multi OEM equipment platforms, including Siemens, Mitsubishi, GE, Westinghouse

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 6–7+ years of experience in power generation with a focus on generator systems
  • Strong expertise in generator electrical systems; mechanical experience is a plus
  • Prior hands-on experience as a Field Engineer or similar technical role
  • Proven leadership experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, GE (preferred), Westinghouse (a plus)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills
  • Experience working in technical support or operations environments
  • Ability to support geographically dispersed teams and projects

Travel Requirements

  • 30–40% travel required
  • Primarily short 2–3 day trips across North America
