Job Description
This on-site Help Desk Technical Support role with CrossCom National LLC in Buffalo Grove, IL provides Level 2 remote technical assistance during enterprise-wide Thin Client, PC, and Printer refresh initiatives. The position covers deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of end-user devices and network-connected peripherals across multiple locations.
Summary
Deliver Level 2 remote support for enterprise wide thin client, PC, and printer refresh projects, assisting with deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of end-user computing devices and network-connected peripherals across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 remote support for thin client, PC, and printer refresh projects.
- Assist field technicians with hardware replacements and migration activities.
- Record and verify existing device configurations before implementing changes.
- Maintain backup copies of network and device configuration data to enable rollback and recovery when needed.
- Verify and document existing network connections and device configurations prior to replacement.
- Adjust switch port assignments and VLAN configurations to accommodate replacement thin client devices.
- Utilize enterprise administration tools to manage and support thin client network connectivity.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity, authentication, and endpoint configuration issues after deployment.
- Confirm that newly installed thin clients register on the network and operate correctly.
- Assist with installing and replacing network printers.
- Ensure retired devices are disconnected and no longer responsive on the network.
- Update MAC address assignments and network configurations within IP management systems.
- Configure printer settings via web-based administration interfaces.
- Test printers with test prints and remote diagnostics to verify functionality.
- Troubleshoot printer connectivity, network communication, and configuration issues.
- Coordinate with field technicians to validate printer operation.
Requirements
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
- Background in supporting PCs, thin clients, and network-connected printers.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Experience troubleshooting DNS and DHCP problems.
- Knowledge of VLAN configurations and switch port assignments.
- Experience addressing IP addressing conflicts and wired network communications.
- Capability to diagnose hardware, software, and peripheral issues remotely.
- Familiarity with web-based device administration and configuration tools.
- Proficiency in TCP/IP troubleshooting and related concepts.
- Understanding of VLAN and switch port configuration concepts.
- Experience with DHCP and DNS troubleshooting.
- Ability to identify and manage MAC addresses.
- Experience validating network device connectivity.
- Proficient in using network diagnostic tools such as ping and traceroute.

Compensation
USD 18.00 - 22.00 per hour
Location and Work Arrangement
Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 (Preferred). Work location: In person. This is an on-site role with expectation to operate locally.
