Help Desk Technician - IT Infrastructure and Operations

St. Peter’s Health is seeking an onsite Help Desk Technician to support facility departments, external offices, and agencies with day-to-day technology needs. In this role, you will diagnose and resolve issues across hardware, software, networking, and peripherals while handling Help Desk incidents and service requests end to end within the ticketing system.

The position is based in Helena, MT and focuses on reliable troubleshooting, clear user support, and accurate documentation to keep hospital technology running smoothly.

What you’ll do

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and peripheral equipment problems.
• Manage Help Desk incidents and service requests from initial intake through resolution, including accurate documentation, prioritization, escalation when needed, and closure in the ticketing system.
• Perform remote troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues using online tools designed for remote diagnosis and resolution.
• Install and upgrade software to support workstation and mobile device needs.
• Provide support for computers and mobile devices.
• Troubleshoot network and printer issues using remote diagnosis and resolution tools.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance to support ongoing reliability.
• Provide technical guidance to end users so they can work effectively.

Education

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).

Experience and qualifications

• Education and training on data communications systems (experience preferred).
• A base understanding of how communications systems interact with data systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot PCs, printers, and switch system problems using online tools focused on remote diagnosis and resolution.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and efficiently in a courteous, considerate manner with hospital personnel and customers, including active listening plus written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical strength, agility, and endurance for moving and maintaining equipment as needed for job performance.
