Job Description

The onsite IT Support Administrator role at Continental Carbon is based in Houston, TX and concentrates on securing, maintaining, and optimizing hardware, software, and cloud-hybrid infrastructure with emphasis on security, IAM, and network support.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce Continental Carbon’s security frameworks, compliance standards, and acceptable use policies.
  • SecOps & Monitoring: Utilize MFA solutions, endpoint protection, and SIEM tools to defend the enterprise environment.
  • Incident Response: Respond to security anomalies, implement remediation procedures, provide post-event root-cause analyses, and escalate critical breaches.
  • IAM Controls: Manage secure user lifecycles (onboarding/offboarding) via Active Directory and Microsoft 365, upholding least-privilege access.
  • Lifecycle Management: Build, deploy, and maintain standardized computer images for desktop and laptop deployments.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor server health, automated backups, and core IT infrastructure stability.
  • Patch Management: Apply routine OS updates, software patches, and system-wide security upgrades.
  • Asset Optimization: Oversee the full inventory lifecycle of IT assets, peripherals, and software licenses.
  • Vendor Operations: Serve as the primary contact for external hardware vendors, coordinating workstation replacements and printer/copier servicing.
  • Site Support & Travel: Occasionally travel to regional sites for hardware rollouts, physical network audits, and hands-on infrastructure updates.
  • Connectivity & Hardware: Support and troubleshoot local office network equipment including routers, switches, and Wi-Fi access points.
  • Tier 1/2+ Support: Manage the queue for local and remote service tickets, troubleshooting hardware, applications, and basic network issues.
  • Team Synergy: Collaborate with senior IT staff on large-scale infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and vendor management.
  • Documentation Architecture: Create and maintain technical blueprints, network diagrams, SOPs, and incident logs.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3–4 years of progressive IT Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Junior Systems Administration experience.
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with relevant experience considered.
  • Certifications:
    • CCNA – Required
    • CompTIA Security+ – Required
    • Additional certifications such as Network+, A+, or Microsoft endpoint certifications are valued
  • Security & Compliance Mindset: Strong foundational cybersecurity practices with alignment to the NIST CSF 2.0 framework.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to various corporate locations as operationally required.
  • OS & Cloud Ecosystems: Deep Windows OS administration; non-Windows environments are a major plus; strong Microsoft 365 and Active Directory management.
  • Network Fundamentals: Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and VPN protocols.
  • Modern Tech Horizons: Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V), remote support software, and awareness of AI risks and tools.
  • Industry Experience: Experience supporting IT infrastructure in manufacturing, industrial, or fast-growing corporate settings.
  • Soft Skills: Elite troubleshooting abilities paired with customer-focused communication.
