Lead Tech / Junior Project Manager for Desktop Support and Datacenter
Job Description
PTY TECH, LLC is hiring a Lead Tech / Junior Project Manager for a 100% onsite desktop support and datacenter support role at the client’s site in Rochester, NY. This is a contract position offering $34 per hour and the opportunity to lead day-to-day coordination while keeping desktop and datacenter services aligned with program goals and SLA targets.
You will work closely with the Project Manager while handling end user services planning, vendor coordination, contract tracking, and customer issue resolution. If you have hands-on experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops and you have experience coordinating service delivery in a datacenter environment, this role is built around using that technical foundation to drive consistent outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Work with and under the direction of the Project Manager to support program goals and achieve SLA attainments
- Liaise with business financial leads and users to support Charge back tracking to the correct project cost center
- Coordinate with selected vendors to ensure smooth delivery of services for end users and datacenter stakeholders
- Plan and coordinate end user services and desktop support required by end users
- Manage active contract tracking and related administration
- Present and report results in various forums
- Liaise with vendors to generate POs and initiate SOW reviews and signoffs
- Help generate agendas and schedule business meetings (X-line sponsor / Application governance board)
- Support change management activities (where applicable)
- Provide technical assistance with computer hardware and software
- Recommend hardware and software improvements based on observed needs
- Track customer issues and document resolutions
Requirements
- Prior project supervisory experience supporting desktop users, including hardware replacement, Windows upgrades, and PC refresh, plus experience providing support in the datacenter
- Key skills: Windows 7/10, Office 2013 / Office 365, and mobile device management
- Knowledge of ticketing platforms is key; ITIL fundamentals are a plus
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows 7/10 desktops and laptops
- Prior experience supporting a client’s datacenter operations
- In-depth understanding of project management terminology and methodology
- ServiceNow experience is a big plus
- Ability to do project planning, budget estimation and management, resource planning and assessment, financial planning, and reporting
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to manage small project teams and build rapport with clients
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, with a positive and professional demeanor
- 3 to 5 years of experience
