Job Description

HVAC focused Technical Support Trainer responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs for customers and employees, providing technical support, and supporting field and on-site services to strengthen customer relationships and drive sales.

Responsibilities

  • Develop guidelines, processes, and tools to address growing demand for technical sales support across branch locations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers and internal staff regarding HVAC-R equipment and applications.
  • Support on-site field activities for challenging or escalated jobs without performing installation, modification, repair, or servicing of equipment.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement technical training programs for customers and employees covering HVAC fundamentals, equipment operation, installation best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers and Account Managers to assist in closing sales opportunities with key equipment dealers and contractors.
  • Deliver customer-focused technical training as a value-added service to strengthen relationships, improve retention, and support sales growth.
  • Enhance warranty and unit exchange processes to reduce claims, improve service response times, and streamline workflow efficiency.
  • Lead HVAC-R training sessions and workshops in classroom and hands-on settings using demonstrations, visual aids, and interactive instruction methods.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of HVAC-R equipment, controls, tools, and products distributed by Johnstone Supply.
  • Provide technical service assistance to customers and employees during regular business hours and on-call rotations.
  • Review and help implement Technical Service Bulletins and product updates with internal teams as needed.
  • Attend meetings, manufacturer classes, vendor trainings, and continuing education opportunities to stay current on industry trends and product changes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of new and existing products, inventory, and industry developments through ongoing training, catalogs, technical literature, and manufacturer resources.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on customer satisfaction, technical competency, operational efficiency, and sales support effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a BA or AA in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of HVAC field service experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proven ability to coordinate a high level of activity under various conditions and constraints.
  • Capability to make business decisions using both analytical and creative processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
