Help Desk Administrator
Job Description
Eastport Holdings is looking for a Help Desk Administrator to be the first point of contact for end-user support across our agency offices in Bluffton, SC (onsite). If you enjoy solving real-world issues, improving how support runs, and working closely with the broader IT team, this role gives you day-to-day ownership of tickets and the chance to make processes better as you go.
What you’ll do
- Serve as first-line support for end users across Windows and macOS, handling troubleshooting, resolution, and follow-up.
- Support users primarily through Teams and email, with regular in-person help at the office.
- Manage day-to-day tickets in the helpdesk system, focusing on strong response times and accurate documentation.
- Provide support for Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Teams, VPN, and core network connectivity, including Wi-Fi and TCP/IP basics.
- Use MDM and RMM tools to support and manage end-user devices.
- Handle basic Wi-Fi and network hardware issues and escalate to Infrastructure & Operations when needed.
- Flag potential security concerns such as phishing attempts, unusual login activity, and unpatched devices, then follow through on next steps.
- Work occasional after-hours windows for changes, installs, or vendor-coordinated work.
- Spot inefficiencies and propose better ways of doing things, partnering with IT so ongoing projects stay visible.
- Travel occasionally to other office locations as needed.
What you bring
- Associate degree, relevant certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1–2 years in a help desk, desktop support, or similar hands-on IT role.
- Comfort working across Windows and macOS and with common business tools like M365, Teams, and VPN.
- Working knowledge of virtualization software and basic networking concepts.
- Strong ticketing discipline: document as you work, not after the fact.
- Clear, professional communication with both technical and non-technical people.
- Self-direction and the ability to stay productive without constant oversight.
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs, mount displays, and climb ladders.
- Ability to travel overnight to other offices occasionally.
- Reliability and punctuality, with comfort following established IT policies and procedures.
Helpful add-ons (preferred)
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification.
- Exposure to ITIL fundamentals or experience within a ticketing/SLA framework.
- Basic scripting or automation experience (for example, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with cloud identity platforms (for example, Entra ID) beyond basic user administration.
Technologies: Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, VPN, MDM, RMM, TCP/IP.
