Job Description
TCI Transportation is hiring an IT Help Desk Technician in Commerce, CA (Hybrid) to deliver hands-on Tier 1 technology support for employees across offices, shops, and remote locations. This role keeps work moving by resolving everyday tech issues end-to-end, managing equipment and user access, and supporting transportation technology like Samsara. You will work alongside employees and the Technology team in a distributed environment, helping reduce downtime and keep teams productive.
What you’ll do
- Own tickets from start to finish: prioritize, document, troubleshoot, and resolve support requests.
- Communicate and escalate appropriately when issues require deeper application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or vendor expertise.
- Troubleshoot Windows devices and Microsoft 365, plus printers, peripherals, connectivity, and standard business applications.
- Prepare devices, set up accounts, process approved access changes, and recover equipment when needed.
- Maintain routine user access across corporate systems including Microsoft 365, Samsara, McLeod, Fusion, and others using established procedures and security standards.
- Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and retire laptops, desktops, and related peripherals.
- Coordinate software installation, warranty service, repairs, and vendor support.
- Track equipment assignments, locations, warranties, and lifecycle status.
- Coordinate ordering, receiving, shipping, returns, and secure disposal, including identifying replacement needs.
- Provide Tier 1 Samsara user and device support, complete defined admin tasks, and coordinate telematics hardware support or replacement.
- Maintain clear ticket records, documentation, and procedures to support consistent service.
- Help improve service consistency, team coordination, and the employee support experience.
What you bring
- Hands-on Tier 1 helpdesk or end-user support experience in a business environment.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot common Windows, Microsoft 365, printer, peripheral, software, and connectivity issues.
- Experience configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and repairing laptops, desktops, and related hardware.
- Experience with routine account administration and working knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
- Understanding of helpdesk cybersecurity practices: secure provisioning, least-privilege access, account deactivation, endpoint protection, patching, and handling confidential information.
- Experience using a ticketing platform to prioritize, document, update, and resolve requests.
- Strong customer service skills with clear communication, organization, follow-through, and the ability to manage competing requests while knowing when to escalate.
Helpful experience
- Experience with Zendesk or a similar platform, Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, hardware asset management, VPN, wireless, or other site technology.
- A background supporting transportation, logistics, fleet, or other distributed operations.
- Samsara experience is beneficial, but not required. TCI will provide Samsara training for candidates who bring helpdesk experience, technical aptitude, and a user-support mindset.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Onsite at least three days per week, with remaining days remote. Additional onsite days may be required based on business or support needs.
- Schedule is subject to change with notice.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $65,000–$75,000 + incentives
Location: Commerce, CA | Hybrid | Full-Time
