Job Description

Component Repair Technologies (CRT) is expanding its Information Technology Department with a full-time IT Support Technician (Tier 2) based onsite in Mentor, OH. This role supports day-to-day technology needs across end-user systems, business applications, and core IT infrastructure while helping keep critical services monitored, secure, and running as expected.

In this position, you will resolve help desk requests, maintain and troubleshoot computers and network components, and support tools that support business operations, including communications, printers, and security-adjacent systems.

What you’ll do

  • Follow established safety protocols and company safety policies and procedures to remain fully compliant.
  • Provide end-user computer system support for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Set up, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Train and assist end users with solutions to issues generated through the help desk.
  • Maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and analyze network usage and performance.
  • Recommend upgrades, patches, and services aligned to business strategies and IT projects.
  • Perform malware and virus detection, including identification, quarantine, and removal.
  • Write and methodically execute batch or PowerShell scripts.
  • Provide phone system administration, including wireless VoIP phones.
  • Support company security systems administration infrastructure, including facial recognition, HID, and video systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot printer and multi-function machines.
  • Conduct user and/or departmental training.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge base with current information and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintain appropriate service level agreements (SLAs) for end-user support.

Required experience and qualifications

  • 3 years of prior help desk or support position experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or similar, or equivalent and relevant job experience.
  • Microsoft A+ or Network+ or Azure Certifications.
  • Microsoft 365 administration and applications experience.
  • Linux system administration.
  • Windows Desktop operating systems including Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Mobile operating system support such as iOS/Android.
  • Working knowledge of the OSI model, switching and routing, and network cabling.
  • Microsoft Active Directory experience.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery methods.
  • Commitment to continuing education in related fields and technologies.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to evaluate priority, impact, and severity.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong and methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • High regard for customer (end-user) service.
  • Ability to work weekends and off-hours when computer usage is low for maintenance, planned outages, or emergencies.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a vision test and a fitness-for-duty test.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including occasional use of safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.
  • Able to manually operate various types of office equipment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the day.
