Jr HelpDesk Technician
Job Description
DataVox Inc is hiring a Jr Help Desk Technician to support employees onsite in Houston, TX. This full-time role is built for motivated early-career talent who want hands-on troubleshooting experience across help desk support, networking fundamentals, and systems administration, with mentorship from experienced IT professionals.
In this position, you will help keep teams productive by managing help desk requests through tickets and multiple communication channels, assisting with Active Directory account operations, and supporting secure onboarding and day-to-day technology needs. You will also document solutions to strengthen team knowledge and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
What you’ll do
- Handle help desk requests across tickets, phone calls, emails, and chat
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues
- Create, modify, and manage user accounts in Active Directory
- Configure and deploy laptops, desktops, and office phones
- Install software applications and perform routine system updates
- Support onboarding and offboarding technical setup for employees
- Assist with day-to-day security tasks, including MFA enrollment support, triaging user-reported phishing emails, and escalating suspicious activity to the security team
- Escalate more complex issues to senior IT team members when appropriate
- Document support activities and solutions to improve knowledge sharing
- Provide excellent customer service while explaining technical topics professionally
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field
- Recent graduate or up to one year of relevant experience via internships, part-time roles, technical support positions, or customer service roles
- Internship experience in IT support, help desk, networking, or systems administration
- Works well with Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and/or ticketing systems
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
- Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and customer service mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take initiative
- Enjoys solving technology problems and helping people
- Eager to gain hands-on experience with enterprise technologies and grow into advanced IT, cybersecurity, networking, or cloud roles
- Preferred: Microsoft Fundamentals certifications such as MS-900, AZ-900, SC-900 (or similar)
- Preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+
Salary and schedule
$20–$25 per hour and full-time employment. The role is onsite in Houston, TX.
