Manager of Workforce Systems Automation & Technical Support
Job Description
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a Manager IV to lead technical subject matter experts who support and optimize workforce automation systems, including WorkInTexas.com. This onsite role in Austin includes help-desk support, coordination with internal IT and external stakeholders, vendor management, and ongoing improvements tied to automation and data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee technical subject matter experts responsible for designing and optimizing critical systems that support the Texas workforce system, including WorkInTexas.com.
- Perform senior-level managerial work to administer day-to-day operations and activities for an agency business function, division, or department.
- Lead end-to-end operations across areas such as data compilation and visualization pipelines, system design, vendor relationships, and user-acceptance testing.
- Coordinate input from internal and external stakeholders, including executive management, program staff, and local workforce development boards, to ensure automation and analytics tools align with business needs.
- Collaborate with division leadership to develop and execute long- and short-term operational goals, while identifying modernization and enhancement opportunities.
- Plan and implement enhanced business and automation initiatives while following sound development standards to meet quality expectations and obtain required sign-offs.
- Serve as a liaison to TWC’s Information Technology Division and other internal teams to prioritize, schedule, and implement critical metrics and system updates.
- Establish and maintain performance accountability and quality assurance processes, including help-desk Service Level Agreement (SLA) tracking and technical best practices.
- Motivate, coach, and develop team members; prepare and evaluate annual budget requests; and monitor department expenditures.
Required Experience
- Five years of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency.
- Within that experience, one year and six months must be in an administrative management or supervisory capacity.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
Additional Requirements
- Texas residency to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willingness to relocate to Texas.
