Part-Time Help Desk Technician
Job Description
pc/nametag is hiring a part-time Help Desk Technician to serve as the primary point of contact for employee technology support. This on-site role in Verona, WI focuses on troubleshooting day-to-day IT issues, onboarding new hires with the right tools, and coordinating escalations when needed. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday during daytime hours, with no late nights, weekends, or holidays.
Role overview
Working approximately 25 hours per week, you will handle incoming IT requests end to end, from first contact through resolution or appropriate escalation. Support is delivered in person, by email, and via Microsoft Teams, covering hardware, software, connectivity, printers, and everyday technology challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Own and manage incoming IT support requests from initial contact through resolution or escalation.
- Provide timely, professional technical support to employees in person, via email, and through Microsoft Teams.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printer, and other daily technology issues both in person and remotely.
- Set up new employees with required accounts, software, hardware, and IT training for their roles.
- Support employee training related to IT equipment and IT-managed software.
- Set up, configure, repair, and replace PCs, peripherals, and other hardware as needed.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for IT systems, processes, and common support issues.
- Coordinate with outside support vendors to resolve issues and implement software or hardware changes.
- Assist with routine IT monitoring, including sign-in logs, Windows updates, system alerts, and warnings.
Required qualifications
- Associate degree, relevant coursework or certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience in information technology, system administration, network administration, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in a Help Desk, technical support, or IT troubleshooting environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications and tools.
- Familiarity with Active Directory and user/account administration.
- Experience troubleshooting PCs, printers, peripherals, and network-connected devices.
- Familiarity with remote support, VPNs, and basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP and DNS.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize effectively, and follow issues through to resolution.
Schedule and work location
- On-site work in Verona, WI.
- Approximately 25 hours per week.
- Monday–Thursday, with 6-hour days preferred and some scheduling flexibility.
