Job Description

The Technical Support Engineer role supports Enterprise Technology and IT Operations for the Michigan Truck Plant, including systems related to the Brand-New Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger. The position focuses on troubleshooting, data analysis, and resolution of incidents across plant IT infrastructure and applications, including support for plant floor systems.

Location and Work Mode

  • Location: Wayne, MI
  • Work mode: On-site

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD 74,300 - 166,200 per year
  • Salary grade range: 6 - 8

Role Responsibilities

  • Support a multi-shift operation in a manufacturing plant.
  • Work flexible hours to support rotating coverage, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Provide technical support for IT applications, infrastructure, operating systems, and end-user productivity tools for plant business customers.
  • Partner with Business IT and business owners to prioritize improvement efforts.
  • Assist Plant Floor Systems / PDO teams with incident resolution, including escalation support and hands-on assistance for global teams such as DBA, Server Operations, Ops Control, and Network Operations as needed.
  • Concentrate on integration and long-term maintenance of applications.
  • Support the team lead with managing assignments and workload.
  • Develop, maintain, and share accurate support documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related
  • Alternative: A combination of education and experience
  • Experience: 1+ years in one or more of the following areas

Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience with Office automation, Windows, PCs, and printers
  • Experience with server administration using Windows or Linux
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and Windows Active Directory
  • Experience with VM servers
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers and switches, including basic troubleshooting and cable installation

  • Any plant floor automation experience is highly desired (Control systems, PLC’s, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and IT professionals, including globally distributed teams
  • Ability to adjust communication appropriately for the audience and work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
  • Motivated self-starter
