IT Support Specialist
Job Description
The IT Support Specialist provides technical assistance to internal team members across multiple companies at Greer Industries, Inc. This onsite role in Morgantown, WV focuses on troubleshooting end-user hardware, software, and network issues while supporting both Windows and Mac environments.
Role Overview
In this position, you will manage reported incidents through a ticketing system, resolve problems related to devices and cloud tools, and support user access through account provisioning and security permission updates. The role also includes maintaining compliance with company security policies and ensuring corporate equipment and software assets are tracked.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide IT support while clearly communicating technical issues to non-technical users.
- Log, categorize, track, and resolve incoming hardware, software, and network issues using the company ticketing system.
- Perform remote and in-person troubleshooting for Windows 11/10 and MacOS devices, including Microsoft 365 apps and related cloud tools.
- Provision employee accounts, reset credentials, and modify security permissions using Active Directory.
- Configure, test, deploy, and maintain corporate laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and workstation hardware.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with company security policies and IT standards.
- Support inventory management and asset tracking for IT equipment and software licenses.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT personnel, vendors, or third-party support providers when required.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (or equivalent professional field experience).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in an internal corporate IT service desk or technical support environment.
- Proficiency with Windows 10/11, MacOS, Microsoft 365 Administration, Active Directory, and basic LAN/WAN networking concepts.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including MFA, phishing awareness, endpoint protection, and access control.
- Familiarity with remote support tools and support techniques.
- Strong customer service, communication, and time management skills.
Additional Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of domain controller, DNS, DCHP, and network administration is a plus.
