IT Support Technician
Job Description
Based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the South Central Solid Waste Authority is seeking an IT Support Technician to keep workstations, printers, and related peripherals operational. The role emphasizes delivering responsive user support and basic network troubleshooting with a focus on dependable service delivery to a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to SCSWA staff, handle user inquiries, explain IT issues, deploy solutions, and follow up to ensure system stability and functionality.
- Maintain and update computer systems, install software upgrades and enhancements, relocate hardware as directed, and escalate problems beyond current capabilities while tracking them through resolution.
- Create and manage user accounts and access for email and file shares; perform basic network troubleshooting; document issues and maintain technical records; verify wiring and connectivity.
- Perform other job-related duties in accordance with Authority policies.
Requirements
- Associate degree in computer science or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of computer systems maintenance experience in an enterprise environment with more than 20 PCs in a Microsoft Active Directory setting.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record per Authority policies.
- Although not required, bilingual English/Spanish skills may be preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License is required with an acceptable driving record per Authority policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of Microsoft Windows and MS Office administration.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems fundamentals.
- Basic network support and remote printer management capabilities.
- Familiarity with relevant technical terminology, system access and security guidelines, and networked troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong customer service, communication skills, and the ability to work within SCSWA policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with standard office equipment and personal computers, plus collaboration with colleagues.
Environment
The role is primarily office-based, with occasional outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditions at facilities within Doña Ana County. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required, and occasional exposure to odors, dust, noise, and hazardous materials may occur.
Work Situation Factors

Pay
Hourly pay ranges from 21.73 to 30.62 USD.

Onsite in Las Cruces, NM.
Education
Associate degree is required.
Experience
