Technical Support Specialist
Job Description
Equity Staffing Group is seeking a Technical Support Specialist for an on-site role in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The position provides hands-on technical assistance for computers, workstations, printers, and related resources, delivering end-user support by phone and on-site within a 24/7 Help Desk environment, with on-call coverage. The compensation ranges from USD 22 to 24 per hour and the designated education requirement is an Associates Degree.
Responsibilities
- Handle Help Desk requests received by phone or email in a 24/7 environment, diagnosing and resolving issues.
- Configure and sustain hardware and software assets, including computers, printers, copiers, faxes, scanners, and projectors.
- Educate end users on solutions for various hardware and software problems.
- Assist staff with installing, configuring, and ensuring ongoing usability of desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software, following applicable standards.
- Escalate unresolved items to appropriate personnel to achieve resolution.
- Install and maintain printers and scanners.
- Prepare new computers by connecting keyboard, mouse, and monitor and verifying proper operation and software installation.
- Diagnose and resolve computer software and hardware problems.
- Provide software application support to end users by telephone or on-site.
- Communicate effectively in both written and spoken form.
- Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
- Associates Degree with at least 6 months of experience in a desktop support environment, or 2 years of IT field work/military experience with a High School Diploma / GED.
- At least 6 months of experience working with Microsoft Office to assist end users with hardware and software issues.
- United States Citizenship.
- Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift and at least one weekend day per week.
- Experience using a ticketing system such as ServiceNow or ServiceDesk.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
