Job Description

This onsite contract role supports the PVCC for the Department of Veterans Services in Warrenton, VA, focusing on IT administration, hardware and software support, and end-user assistance for roughly 200 devices across desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and mobile devices.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals, plus related networking.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Android and iOS mobile devices.
  • Support and troubleshoot Ethernet LAN/WAN environments, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other network protocols.
  • Install, administer, troubleshoot, and train users on email solutions, including Google Workspace, PST handling, calendaring, and distribution lists.
  • Maintain IT inventory, operate a ticketing system, and generate basic reports.
  • Configure and troubleshoot analog and digital phone systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and infrastructure issues.
  • Set up, configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Resolve hardware and software issues on desktops and laptops, including applications, mobile devices, and telephone systems.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and report incidents promptly.
  • Track end-user support activities through the ticketing system.
  • Monitor performance of networks and computer systems.
  • Coach and manage daily duties of the contracted on-site engineer.
  • Own reliable transportation; employer reimburses travel expenses directly.

Requirements

  • Proficient in installing, troubleshooting, and administering Windows OS, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and related IT assets.
  • Document changes to systems, update training materials, and create procedures to address solutions and issues.
  • A clean driving record and dependable transportation for occasional light travel to satellite offices using a personal vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Solid understanding of network and IT security.
  • Professional, courteous demeanor with customers, teammates, and vendors; clear and effective communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and teamwork mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to use available resources to resolve issues promptly.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to create clear, user-friendly documentation for technical issues and solutions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and perform repetitive motions including standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing.
