Infotech Advantage, Inc. offers this benefits-focused, onsite IT Help Desk and Desktop Support Specialist role in Albany, NY with a compensation range of $31.00 to $40.00 per hour. The position emphasizes proactive service, clear communication, and teamwork to sustain productive end-user support across hardware, software, and network environments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality IT support across in‑person, phone, email, and electronic ticketing channels with professional, responsive communication to ensure timely, accurate, user‑focused assistance.
- Communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms with end users.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents reported by customers.
- Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software, including PCs, laptops, mobile devices, iPads, copiers, printers, video conferencing equipment, scanners, desk phones, and headsets.
- Assist with configuring, installing, and maintaining network systems using standard protocols and with network equipment such as hubs, routers, switches, bridges, and servers, including routine updates and patches.
- Provide password resets for end users.
- Offer user training and assistance on routine applications and hardware, including onboarding for new users.
- Assess problematic trends identified through customer incidents and provide feedback to the System Manager.
- Recommend solutions to address cited problems.
- Handle archiving and disposal of electronic records in response to requests.
- Assist with proper disposal of electronic media devices.
- Support routine maintenance of personal identity verification cards.
- Support the district’s property management team and promptly communicate changes to user assignments and the location of government furnished equipment.
- Assist with setting up, relocating, and reconnecting computer hardware and related IT equipment within office spaces.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, SharePoint) and Adobe.
- High‑level working knowledge of Windows operating systems; familiarity with Windows Server and Apple iOS/mobility is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation.
- Minimum 3 years of information technology support experience, including IT help desk and desktop support.
