Job Description

What this role offers

Ledgent Technology is offering a 12 month contract for an IT Help Desk Tech in Milpitas, onsite. The role is compensated at USD 30–31 per hour and centers on practical hardware and software installation, user support, asset management, backups, and infrastructure tasks, with a focus on Linux environments and Ansible automation.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure proper usability.
  • Rack and stack servers and related equipment; lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to restore operations.
  • Adhere to electrical safety standards in all activities.
  • Repair or replace damaged hardware as needed.
  • Upgrade systems to enable software compatibility across all computers.
  • Install and configure systems that support infrastructure and research and development activities.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Test and evaluate new software and hardware prior to rollout.
  • Provide user support and serve as the first point of contact for error reporting.
  • Build positive relationships with all departments and colleagues.
  • Conduct daily backup operations and monitor data integrity.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Handle operations and support tasks as part of daily duties.
  • Asset Management, including four physical asset audits per year.
  • Track inventory at all times.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
  • A+, Linux+, or Cisco Certified Network Associate accreditation is advantageous.
  • Forman deployment experience.
  • Experience with Ansible.
  • Installation, management, and support of Linux base OS such as RHEL, CENTOS, ROCKY, UBUNTU.
  • Asset Management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
