Part-Time Helpdesk Technician
Job Description
Based in Manhattan, Alvanon, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Helpdesk Technician to serve as the on-site IT contact for the New York office. The role supports 25–30 local users, handling hardware deployments, workspace infrastructure, and in-person support while coordinating with a global IT organization.
Role overview
We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused Part-Time Helpdesk Technician to act as the dedicated on-site technical resource for our New York location. As the primary local point of contact for hardware and workspace IT needs, you will deliver hands-on support, manage local deployments, and collaborate with the broader IT team to maintain smooth operations.
Responsibilities
- On-Site User Support: Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for local employees facing hardware, software, connectivity, or printing issues.
- Workstation Deployment: Perform laptop staging, imaging, and profile setup for new hires in alignment with internal SOPs.
- Identity & Endpoint Management: Provision local computer accounts via Microsoft Entra ID (Intune) and synchronize user emails using Google Workspace tools.
- Asset Tracking & Inventory: Maintain the online Asset Report system, updating hardware statuses, serials, and assignments in real time.
- Workspace & AV Upkeep: Maintain office tech hygiene, conference room Zoom/Teams setups, cabling, printer maintenance, and monitoring of network hardware.
- Cross-Border Coordination: Document session logs and technical updates for the remote IT Manager in Hong Kong, and work with the NY Office Manager on physical space adjustments and device logistics.
Requirements
- Operating Systems: Advanced skills configuring, updating, and troubleshooting Windows 10/11; basic macOS knowledge is a plus.
- Identity & Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft Intune, and Google Workspace administration.
- Mail Client Ecosystems: Strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook profiles and experience implementing mail synchronization bridges (GWSMO).
- Hardware Aptitude: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing enterprise laptops (Dell XPS, Lenovo ThinkPad), docking stations, and commercial network printers.
- Process-Driven Mindset: Ability to follow detailed, multi-step technical manuals and checklists while adhering to security baselines.
- Communication & Character: Excellent verbal and written English skills; capable of working independently with professionalism and reliability.

Pay
Compensation: USD 25.00 - 30.00 per hour

Preferred requirements
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant foundational certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Fundamentals).
- Experience using encrypted password vaults (e.g., 1Password) and centralized knowledge bases.
