Part Time Onsite IT Support
Job Description
This part-time onsite IT Support role supports Metro Area clients through onsite visits, hands-on troubleshooting, and technology implementation in coordination with remote team members. The position is based in Omaha, NE and focuses on delivering reliable resolution for computer and network issues.
Role Overview
You will travel to customer locations in the applicable Metro Area when onsite presence is required. The work includes diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related problems, as well as assisting with technology rollouts and documenting completed work for client records.
Responsibilities
- Conduct onsite visits to customers in the Metro Area (for which you are applying) when an on-site presence is needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer and network problems, with assistance from remote personnel.
- Assist with implementing new technology in coordination with remote personnel.
- Identify technology solutions by analyzing customer support needs.
- Maintain strong and consistent communication with customers.
- Document work performed and other technical information for clients.
Requirements
- Ability to diagnose and fix hardware and software issues for both desktops and servers.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting on WinXP, Windows7, and Win2003/2008 Server, including Active Directory, Exchange, and DNS.
- End-user and help desk experience using MS Office Suite and other common desktop applications.
- Experience troubleshooting network-related issues tied to infrastructure such as switches and routers.
- Configuration of TCP/IP settings on networks and troubleshooting TCP/IP issues.
- Certifications such as A+, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP, CNE, or CCNA are a plus but not required.
- Must live within close proximity of the Metro Area (for which you are applying).
Technology Focus
The role involves support across common Windows environments and core networking systems, including WinXP, Windows7, Win2003, Win2008 Server, Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, MS Office Suite, TCP/IP, and network devices such as switches and routers.
Schedule and Job Request Details
- Hours are not guaranteed.
- There is a recurring assignment at a client site every other week.
- The position is intended as a flexible option for occasional supplemental income, not consistent and guaranteed monthly income.
- Job request frequency varies by location. Some areas have higher volume, while others may have as few as one customer.
- In lower-volume areas, requests may range from once a month to once every three months.
Most requests occur during business hours, and occasionally after hours. Requests are flexible, and there is no penalty for being unavailable for a specific task.
Compensation and Travel Pay
- $30.00 per hour
- Hourly compensation is provided even during travel to the customer site.
- Minimum pay of $100 per job.
