Position overview
We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to provide expert troubleshooting, service support, and technical guidance for automated storage and retrieval systems and material handling equipment. This role serves as a key escalation point for technicians and customers, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, supporting field service activities, and ensuring equipment reliability and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a background in industrial automation, electrical controls, and mechanical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues remotely and communicate effectively with technicians, customers, and internal engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Offer remote and on-site technical assistance to field technicians and end users via phone, email, and occasional visits.
- Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control system faults in ASRS and related equipment.
- Assist technicians with low voltage control circuits and three-phase power distribution in the 230 to 600 VAC range.
- Diagnose components such as motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, chain and belt driven systems, and other automated material handling equipment.
- Escalate complex problems to engineering and advanced technical support teams as needed.
- Maintain incident-by-incident records of failures, diagnostics, and resolutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions to improve performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, service procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
- Support field service operations including commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Lead technical training for field technicians, maintenance personnel, and end users.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to resolve customer issues and drive product improvements.
- Participate in ongoing technical training programs and product education initiatives.
- Adhere to all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Associate degree or technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation, or a related field.
- Proven experience diagnosing industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
- Solid understanding of low voltage control circuits and three-phase power distribution in the 230 to 600 VAC range.
- Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and other industrial control components.
- Experience diagnosing chain drive, belt drive systems, conveyors, and automated equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical support environment.
