Job Description
The Mobile Restaurant IT Support role provides on-the-go technical assistance across multiple McDonald’s franchise locations, handling hardware, software, network, and POS issues while collaborating on infrastructure initiatives. Prior McDonald’s IT experience is essential for success in this on-site, road-ready position.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site and remote technical support to restaurant staff, resolving hardware, software, network, and operating system problems promptly and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot devices and equipment including computers, mobile devices, printers, POS systems, and networking hardware such as routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN/WAN configurations.
- Manage help desk tickets, document issues, monitor resolutions, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Support Active Directory tasks for user accounts, including setup, permission changes, and password resets, while adhering to security protocols.
- Assist with computer management activities such as operating system installations, Windows updates, hardware upgrades, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Perform network troubleshooting to address connectivity issues and firewall configurations to sustain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with IT teams on infrastructure projects, deploying new hardware or software across locations to ensure smooth implementations.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with help desk systems.
- OTP certifications and McDonald’s IT infrastructure experience are mandatory.
- Extensive technical support experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on desktop support and equipment troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of computer networking concepts, including LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP, DNS management, VPNs, firewalls (Meraki), and general network administration.
- Expertise in Windows support (including Windows Server environments), macOS, Linux, and related hardware components.
- Ability to troubleshoot software issues related to operating systems and POS applications; experience with software deployment tools such as SCCM is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service orientation to assist non-technical users effectively.
- Knowledge of Active Directory management for user accounts; experience with GPO configurations is desirable.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure components, including computer hardware and network devices, essential for maintaining operational continuity.
- Analytical abilities to identify root causes quickly and implement lasting solutions.
