Join a customer-focused team supporting Parks and Recreation services in Riverdale, MD (onsite). This part-time Tier 1 Help Desk role offers $16 to $19 per hour, on-the-job training, and a structured schedule designed around call center operations. After six months of successful employment, you may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
What you’ll do
In a fast-paced call center environment, you will provide first-level support for internal and external customers by handling inquiries, troubleshooting questions, and service requests. You will communicate by phone and email, gather details to resolve issues, and use ticketing software to keep every request organized and tracked.
- Answer and respond to customer calls and emails about Parks and Recreation programs, services, and general inquiries
- Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting support for customers and end users
- Record, document, and track inquiries, incidents, and service requests in ticketing software
- Support rotational front-counter coverage, including assisting walk-in customers with program registrations and answering general department questions
Schedule and work setup
- Work is performed on-site in a call center setting
- Call center hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Employees are scheduled four days per week, eight hours per day (part-time, 32 hours per week)
- Schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Work hours may change during the summer season, based on operational needs
The role involves sitting for extended periods, using a computer, and wearing a headset. You must be able to manage steady call volume while providing professional customer service.
What you bring
- High School Diploma
- Minimum age of 18
- Previous customer service, call center, retail, or front-desk experience
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with an emphasis on accuracy
- Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, and data entry in Word or Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic customer service practices
- Ability to listen effectively, gather relevant information, and ask appropriate questions
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn multiple software applications
- Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask and manage priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
